All I can say is - August was a TERRIBLE month, reading-wise. I only managed to finish 3 books! However, one was a chunkster, 730 pages of teeny-tiny print. Here's the pitiful list:
31 BOND STREET by Ellen Horan (Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 2010)
CURE by Robin Cook (Medical Mystery Madness Challenge 2010)
DEVIL'S BROOD by Sharon Kay Penman (Chunkster Challenge 2010)
You MUST have done better than I! What did you read in August?

Hi Lynn, I put up an August reads on my blog. I'll recap it here:
August Reads
The Swimming Pool by Holly LeCraw...I first heard about this book when listening to the Books on the Nightstand podcast. The author was interviewed on one of the podcasts. I started this book before leaving for Hawaii. I must say that it didn't really interest me enough to carry this particular hardback book all the way to Hawaii with me. I finished it up when I came home from vacation. Overall, it was a good read but nothing amazing.
Friendship for Grown Ups: What I Missed and Learned Along the Way by Lisa Whelchel...I was looking forward to this book as I have always liked Lisa Whelchel from way back when I watched her TV show, Facts of Life, as a young girl. This book was not all that I expected. It covered a lot of her issues with forming friendships both as a child and woman. Interesting but the second part of the book was more of what I was looking for. It gave me pause to think about my own friendships and if I nurture them enough or not. I'm glad I read the book but am also glad it was a library book.
The Nobodies Album by Carolyn Parkhurst...found out about this book from my friend, Heather. She had added it to her goodreads.com account. I enjoyed this book and in it the main character, an author, writes a book which has the last chapter of all her published works and then she rewrote the ending. This "story" of the rewritten endings is woven through the actual plot of the story. Very unique idea.
Fireworks over Toccoa by Jeffrey Stepakoff...found this one on the new books shelf at the library too. A quick short read, mostly romance. I don't read "romance novels" very often but this book had a good storyline about choices made versus your heart's desires.
The Writing Circle by Corinne Demas...I love to read about writers and their writing process. This book was interesting because each chapter was written from the perspective of a different character. Overall, it was a good story.
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender...I'd heard a lot about this book prior to reading it. Orshould I say that the title and cover appealed to me. I love any book with food in the title. I gave this book only 2 out of 5 stars on goodreads.com. While I liked the main character, there was a subplot about the brother that just was too weird in the book. I didn't like the way it was "wrapped up" in the end.
