THE STUFF THAT NEVER HAPPENED

THE STUFF THAT NEVER HAPPENED by Maddie Dawson

From the back of the book:

Annabelle has been married to Grant McKay for three decades.  She has two wonderful children and memories of thousands of dinners around their scarred oak table, and other wives wish they had her devoted husband, who wound never cheat on her or leave.  But long ago Annabelle fell in love with someone else.  With the children grown and gone and Grant becoming distant, she can't help but wonder if she made the right choice to stay with Grant.

When a surprise encounter offers her a second change at that unforgettable passion, Annabelle must decide between the man she's always dreamed about and the husband who has stood squarely by her side.  A journey into the what-ifs and lingering doubts that haunt us, The Stuff That Never Happened is an intricate, heartfelt examination of modern marriage.

I didn't like this book.  The synopsis made it sound interesting, but it was boring.  The chapters, all narrated by Annabelle, moved between past and present.  I didn't like Annabelle or Grant at all.  I couldn't imagine how they ever managed to get together in the first place let alone stay married for close to 30 years.

What a bummer, staring the new year with a bad book.
