We're one of the "lucky" households who were affected by the ATT U-Verse outage. 48 hours of no TV, no internet and no phone (we use Vonage and it's tied into the internet). Thankfully we have cell phones or we would have been cut off completely from civilization.
Dom woke up early this morning and turned on the TV to check - and service was finally back.
It's amazing how much we rely on technology. I wanted to call the library to check their hours so I could take the laptop up there to connect. Oops, no internet to check the library website. Dom wanted to watch something on TV - sorry, no can do. He had to settle for some old movie on DVD that he really didn't care about watching. Luckily for me, I had plenty of books to read.
We really should make some arrangements to do without these services. Have more interesting things to watch on DVD. Have a current handwritten phone book. Menus of local restaurants. I don't have to worry about books - I'll never run out of them!

Oh wow, I didn't even realize you guys had UVerse Lynn! We got it a couple of years ago and love it, but have hardly ever had an outage (KNOCK on wood!). We were not affected by this outage, but I read about it. I believe I saw that AT&T is going to refund people for the time they were out, so that's a little something. I'm like you, I'd be totally and completely lost without our Internet service and TV. We do have a ton of DVD's, and of course, I have my Kindle, but otherwise we'd be dead in the water. My husband works from home and uses the Internet every second, so that would be a hard hill to tackle.
Glad it's back and hope it stays on for a very long time!
